In preparation for UW Finance Transformation (UWFT), we stopped processing orders for subscription products offered in the UWare catalog from May 1, 2023, through July 2023.
UW-IT will automatically bill for the Microsoft Visual Studio license in the next license cycle. UW-IT cannot prorate or refund the cost of the Microsoft Visual Studio license subscription. Microsoft Visual Studio license are available through an annual subscription, with the license period running from June 1 through May 31. No Procurement cards or direct sales to individuals are available. Purchase requires a valid UW budget number and authorization from a budget approver. Purchasing a Professional or Enterprise License Students and Faculty may be able to download Microsoft Visual Studio Enterprise through Azure for Education for instructional and non-commercial research purposes only. The most basic edition, the Community Edition, is available free of charge from Microsoft. Microsoft provides a feature comparison matrix detailing the differences between levels. Visual Studio has three feature tiers: Community, Professional, and Enterprise. 
Visual Studio for Mac has many of the same features as Visual Studio and is optimized for developing cross-platform and mobile apps.
It is used to develop computer programs, websites, web apps, web services, and mobile apps. Microsoft Visual Studio is an integrated development environment from Microsoft.
